ABEN 2021 Virtual Conference

Calculative silences and the agency of business ethics scholars”

Hosted by the School of Business, The University of Notre Dame Australia

6th – 8th December 2021

In the spirit of the mid-year workshop, we would like to continue the conversations and insights on the theme of ‘Calculative silences and the agency of business ethics scholars’ for the 11th annual ABEN conference which will be in virtual mode (online). For inspiration, the broad themes presented in July included topics around why good people act unethically, political silencing, moral agency, the corporate agency of CSR, developing community co-creation and SDG curriculum integration, among others. Contributions can be in the form of reflective ideas, developing new insights or critiquing our responsibilities as business ethics scholars. In this call is for submissions we will be accepting traditional abstracts plus we also invite creative, provocative, innovative, and artistic submissions. The annual conference is an opportunity for the ABEN network to inspire each other and share ideas in a safe environment that supports collegiality whilst challenging our assumptions and knowledge.

  • Submissions are foreseen to be equivalent to approximately 500 words or 2 pages.
  • Email your proposal by 14th November 2021  1st December 2021 to: submissions@aben.org.au.
  • Also, a reminder of the ABEN Scholarships annual grant opportunities with recipients announced at the conference in December:

We invite PhD students and HDR students to present their research projects in our Doctoral Colloquium (DC). This year’s DC is held online subsequent to the ABEN Conference on 6-8 December 2021.

ABEN Doctoral Colloquiums foster a collegial environment for PhD Candidates and HDR students to share research projects that are work-in-progress with fellow participants and engage in friendly conversations with the experts in their respective field of study. The DC will also run two special panel sessions on quantitative and qualitative research designs.

What to expect from the ABEN Doctoral Workshop

Apart from providing unique networking opportunities for PhD candidates, the main purpose of the ABEN DC is to support and promote PhD and ECR research activities in business ethics.

Experienced ABEN members have kindly agreed to share their extensive research expertise in the session and will provide mentees with individual feedback on their research.

At the ABEN DC you will get the opportunity to:

 present your research summaries, infographic poster or any other creative and artistic presentation,

 receive feedback from experienced ABEN members about research matters, publishing, finding co-authors, jobs, etc.,

 meet with other students undertaking research in the field and build networks for future collaboration,

 join two special panel sessions on quantitative and qualitative research designs.
